Your Response, please

Hi Everyone, I am just back from a weekend away with five really great women who I am lucky enough to call friends. We tried to take in my joint show with Beth Karon in Zumbrota, MN, but were foiled by blowing snow and icy roads. Following is a three paneled project that I really wanted my friends to see and give me their feedback. So, instead I am putting the pieces out here and hoping all of you will give me your reaction.
"Separated Likeness"

"Little Changes"

"Let It Be"

About Me

My photo
Linda Mix Yates
Minnesota, United States
I am an artist passionate about dishes. My media is mosaic and the style of mosaic in which I choose to work is that of the tradition of picassiette–mosaic with broken dishes. My process is truly inspired by the dish and begins with each dish I find. I see my work as a celebration of three facets of life–the life of the dish, life lived around the dish, and life as the journey we travel through time. Through the materials I use–the varied colors, textures, patterns and parts–I celebrate the dish. Dishes are a part of our lives. They are a mundane necessity of every day life. They enhance the celebration marking a special time in life. They are cherished for the fond memories of people and events of past life. With each of my works, I seek to capture the stories of life by evoking a sense of time, place and emotion, as inspired by the dish. My process–taking the plain and ordinary, and the broken and discarded, piece by piece putting them together–celebrates all the new beginnings in life.
